At that time, they were still strictly on vinyl and initially headed towards hip hop and soul. A memorable night in the nineties - a showcase for the cult label Strictly Rhythm at the Docks - was the trigger for the genre change to house music. Driven by role models like Armand van Helden, David Morales, Frankie Knuckles & Co., the style changed. Nevertheless, deejaying always remained a hobby. Occasional gigs in clubs, bookings and a residency in a Hamburg club were enough. The focus was on a professional career as an advertising copywriter. Since 2012, DJing has been higher on the priority list again. The sound has also developed: Nowadays, Birkenlauber's sets are a skilful mixture of powerful deep house, crunchy tech house and straight techno and range from 118 to 130 BPM. Birkenlauber first attracted attention as a producer with remixes for various artists. Their first EP followed under the project name MOB MOB on the British label Kingdom Kome Cuts. Further releases took place on Audio Safari and Clubland Records, among others.
