Hot Chip have announced their ninth studio album, ‘A Long Way From Kansas’, scheduled for release on January 8th, 2027, via Domino Records.
The record follows their 2022 album ‘Freakout/Release’ and features contributions from Eddie Chacon and Beth Ditto, vocalist of Gossip.
Its first single, ‘Random Violence,’ pays tribute to JD Twitch, also known as Keith McIvor, of Glasgow duo Optimo (Espacio), who died in 2025.
Joe Goddard reflected on the musician’s influence and their personal connection: “Last year in September our old friend and brilliant DJ Keith McIvor of Optimo in Glasgow passed away after a diagnosis of an inoperable brain tumour a few months earlier.”
“He was a passionate music lover and a staunch believer in socialism. Many of the words relate directly to his death and to memories of being in Sub Club in Glasgow where we met 20 years ago,” added Goddard.
Hot Chip are scheduled to tour South America and Europe throughout late 2026 and early 2027, including an October 21st appearance at Glasgow’s Sub Club.
Meanwhile, guitarist Al Doyle, also a member of LCD Soundsystem, has announced his solo album ‘Hollywood Saviour’, due November 20th, 2026, through DFA Records.
